2022 Annual Report Digital Technologies in Primary Care

We are an active SIG with 129 members, including 16 international members

Activities

We have continued to send out our quarterly newsletter where we share news, events and profile researchers.

We held an in-person meeting before the SAPC ASM in Preston where Prof Gary Abel gave a presentation and we recruited new SIG members.

We held a Christmas networking event and quiz, via Microsoft Teams.

We recruited a new member of the SIG leadership team, Jenny McIntosh from the University of Melbourne and this is part of our strategy to increase the international reach of the SIG.

We continue to support members by advertising posts, promoting studies and recruitment and putting members in touch where relevant.

Future plans

We intend to hold an in-person event either before/after the SWSAPC conference in March, and again before the SAPC conference in July.

We would like to hold another networking event, ideally in person and plan to try and do this in late 2023.

We will continue to support the work of members and to send out our newsletter.

Evidence of impact of the SIG

We have extended our reach and now have 16 international members. We have attracted interest from people outside of the group because of our reputation for reaching relevant researchers e.g. for advertising posts.

We have connected up junior researchers who are now working together on projects and bids.

How affiliation with SAPC has helped the SIG

We appreciate the affiliation with SAPC because it grounds our work in academic primary care and offers us the opportunity to hold a meeting before the SAPC ASM each year, which is always well attended. We also appreciate the opportunity to apply for funding, which we plan to do in 2023.
