Executive and AGM
Much of the work of the Society is done by its Executive, which meets three or four times a year. if you would like any particular topic brought up for discussion at an Executive meeting please contact me or any member of the Executive Committee. Executive Committee elections are held in the spring and all members are invited to be nominated should you wish to become involved. The Annual General Meeting is held annually at the Annual Scientific Meeting.
Membership fees and tax relief
SAPC members may claim their membership fees against tax. For details on how to do this and to view the list please visit the HMRC website area for professional bodies approved for tax relief (SAPC is listed under Academic Primary Care Society for). Please ask for a receipt of payment if required by email.
Newsletters
SAPC emails a monthly newsletter to members on the last Friday of the month (except August and December) and occasional newsflashes as the need arises.
Social media
SAPC can be found on Twitter @sapcacuk and for the conference and regional meetings we use #sapcasm. We use Twitter in addition to the Newsletter to announce meetings, jobs and generally to join in the academic primary care conversation.
Annual Scientific Meeting
SAPC members may register at a reduced rate. The next annual conference will take place from 18th to 20th July 2023 in Brighton.
Regional meetings
SAPC regional meetings are held around the country throughout the year, during the pandemic and recently they have been held virtually.
Special interest groups (SIGs)
SAPC’s special interest groups offer a forum for getting together with others with specific interests. Do get in touch with the group leaders directly to learn more about their activities. You may be interested in setting up your own SIG eventually and details of how to apply can be found on the SIG page.
Primary Health Care Scientists Group (PHoCuS)
This is a friendly and welcoming community which offers support to non-medical members who are a key part of the academic primary care community.More about the PHoCuS group here. You are welcome to join its meetings which take place at the annual conference and at most of the SAPC regional meetings.
Early career academic group
This group supports early career academics in SAPC, both medical and PHoCus members. Often it is helpful to meet up with people at a similar career stage, to hear about developments across the UK and to support each other. The ECR group can give you that support and forum.

Mentorship programme
Find out more about the mentorship programme and become either a mentor or a mentee. This is open to all members both medical and PHoCuS (non-medical).
