Professor Lora E Fleming is a physician and epidemiologist with expertise in the environment and human health; she is based at the European Centre for Environment and Human Health [www.ecehh.org] (University of Exeter Medical School).  The research and training at the European Centre is focused on an interdisciplinary approach to the interactions between the health of both humans and the environment. She has done collaborative interdisciplinary research around big data data mashups and environment and human health, including the MRC NERC funded MEDMI Project (https://www.data-mashup.org.uk). She is also very interested in the new trans/interdisciplinary metadiscipline of Oceans and Human Health; and she recieved the Ocean and Human Awards from the Edouard Delcroix Foundation and the IOC Bruun Award. Prof Fleming is leading the H2020 funded Projects, BlueHealth (https://bluehealth2020.eu) to explore the connections between blue environments and human health; and Seas, Oceans and Public Health in Europe (SOPHIE) (https://sophie2020.eu) to establish a network and create a strategic research agenda for Oceans and Human Health in Europe and beyond.
