Hull York Medical School is the joint medical school of the Universities of Hull and York
It has a reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting, contemporary schools, offering innovative and rigorous medical education; and delivering world class research
Research is organised into Centres which each conduct world-class research. Much of this is interdisciplinary, spanning traditional subject boundaries and reaching out into other departments within the Universities of Hull and York. For instance, anatomists work with medical engineers, immunologists with computer scientists and neuroscientists with chemists. This approach provides a vibrant atmosphere and great opportunities for innovative medical research.
Primary Care research is based within the Academy of Primary Care.
The Academy of Primary Care brings together expertise in primary care research, education, clinical practice and scholarship, so we can champion and cultivate the scholarly expertise that is essential to the redesign and delivery of the highest standards of primary care – locally, nationally and internationally.
Our work is organised under 5 themes:
- Optimising primary care diagnosis and management of cancer
- Primary care redesign
- Quality evidence and safety in primary care
- Workforce redesign in primary care
- General practice and primary care education.
Our SAPC Ambassador is Dr Liz Mitchell.
The Director of Research for the Academy is Professor Joanne Reeve and Director of Education is Dr Kevin Anderson.
